Welcome to Spring
It’s been a very busy and fun month here at Academie Da Vinci. We started out February with the exciting Bike Rodeo. We held Sibling registration for 2015-2016 and completed the Lottery on February 16. Applications are going strong and the waitlist continues to increase. All acceptance letters have gone out and our incoming Kindergarten class is full.
This month we welcomed Ms. Pitman back to us. She is enjoying her time in second grade and happy to be back at Academie Da Vinci. We also welcomed Joanne Warner as our new part-time Bookkeeper. Joanne will be working with all the ADV accounts, including lunch funds, field trips, pizza, T shirts, Yearbook, Adopt –a-Class, and all other fundraising efforts. She also will cover the front desk and lunch duty. Stop by and meet her mornings, Monday through Thursday.
We hosted a small but enthusiastic recognition event for our 9 students and their families who entered the PTA Reflections Art competition. We have 4 students whose work has been selected to go to the state level so are waiting to hear their results. We are so proud of all of the creative entries into Reflections this year.
This month we saw a number of classes earn their rewards for reaching the goal of 35 Da Vinci dollars. We had free dress down days and other celebrations. Also, many students earned certificates for perfect attendance for February, those certificates were given out the first week of March.
Our new Drama Club had a successful start last week- roles are being assigned this week and we are looking forward to the show in May, which will be held the same day as the Dance Club Show.
The final exciting event of the month was the Book Fair and the wonderful Spring Festival. When ADV says “rain or shine” we really mean it! Huge thanks go out to Colleen Spiegel and all the PTA volunteers for getting the Spring Festival organized and so successful. I want to especially thank Tara Turpen and Emily Cantin for their incredible work at the Book Fair. The Book Fair was a huge success and featured beautiful posters and visuals representing the ocean theme. I understand they even exceeded their own fundraising goal which will benefit all of the ADV students and teachers. Thanks so much, Tara and Emily!
