Academie Da Vinci Charter School for the Arts
Lots of October Happenings at Academie Da Vinci!
The Mingle is Saturday! It will be a fun event 2-5pm at Pioneer Park. Come for the food, the drum circle, face painting and other events. See you there!
We will celebrate Halloween on Friday October 30 – guidelines were sent out through the google groups email system and also sent home. Please check the guidelines before purchasing or making your child’s costume.
We have 2 active fundraisers going on – the PTA is selling the “Mixed bags and Cookware” and ADV is selling the students’ COLLAGE ART Wall Calendars. Please support our fundraisers!
We have completed the IOWA assessments and are sending them off for scoring. We’ll share the results with you when they come back. Students have been enjoying their field trips and many more are being planned. In addition to their regular classroom field trips, all students will have the opportunity to go to the Dunedin Fine Arts Center and work with clay again this year. Our 5th graders will be able to use the pottery wheel. Mrs. Stanziano is coordinating these trips. Trips are being planned to Ruth Eckerd Hall, the Mahaffey Theatre, the Ringing Brothers Circus Museum, and John Chestnut Park, to name a few.
More events: the deck construction is well underway, as you can see:
Students have been asking questions and looking through the windows to see how it’s progressing. Paul Hartman Construction is our contractor. He and his team are doing a wonderful job. We’ll certainly let you know when it’s done and when we will dedicate our new space.
We have been very pleased to welcome 6 new students this month. Our students are in general very welcoming but it can be hard to let new students into the friendship circles that are already in place. Please encourage your child to welcome new students and remind them that they most likely can remember when they were the “new kid”. Several teachers are teaching brief lessons that focus on caring and being kind to all. At Academie Da Vinci we celebrate our differences !
