DRESS UP & ACTIVITY DAYS AT ADV 22-23

 

 
The Annual Dunedin Holiday Parade on 
 Saturday, December 10, 2022! 
 
Continuing our annual tradition, Academie Da Vinci is excited to announce that we are participating in the Dunedin Old Fashioned Christmas Parade on December 10th, 2022!  
 
When:  
Saturday, December 10th, 2022 
Drop off is at 3:00 pm  
The Parade begins promptly at 4pm. 
 
Where: 
Drop off:  
Dunedin Library parking lot 
ADV staff will be checking in pre-registered students and families. 
Directions:  
Take Milwaukee Avenue to Plaza Drive, turn onto Plaza Drive, follow signs to the drop-off area. Then follow exit signs back out to Milwaukee Avenue. 
Between 3:00-3:30 pm families will make their way to the float. The Parade begins promptly at 4pm.  
 
Parade Route:  
The parade travels along Douglas Avenue from Beltrees Street heading north to Skinner Blvd/580. Exact parade number position TBA. 
 
Our Theme:  
                                   The Grinch Who Stole Christmas! 
 
What to wear:  
So, all ADV parents and students walking with our float are uniform “Whos from Whoville,” please adhere to the attire requirements below. 
 
Kindergarten and 1st graders, Parents & Walkers:  
Clothing: 
Any Christmas/Holiday Sweater or Shirt 
Solid black pants 
Tennis shoes 
Hair: 
Think “Who” like hair! Braids with pipe cleaners in it to make it stick out. Take a red-solo cup, place it on top of your head and bring the hair up and around it so it is high. Ribbons. Bows. Hats. Headbands with Christmas stuff on them. Have fun!! 
Make-up (optional): 
Simple neutral make-up with red lipstick. Add a little bit of glitter on face/cheekbones. 
 
Grades 4-8 dancers:  
Clothing: 
White crew neck t-shirt.  
Any holiday leggings or tights (if buying tights also buy red or white spandex-like shorts to wear over tights). 
Tennis shoes

Choreography: 
Students in Dance elective, grades 4-8, will be dancing behind the ADV banner. They will learn the choreography in their elective classes at school. 
  
Parade Decorating Party: 
Students have been working hard at school making decorations for the float. Please consider coming to help us decorate the float at the school before the parade. Please come! The more the merrier! 😊

Saturday December 10th from 9-12 am

ADV parking lot  
 
Special Notes: 
The number of parade participants per float entry is limited again this year. ADV is allowed 100 participants. This will be on a first come, first served basis. Please fill out the attached script (LINKS) if you would like to attend!
 
 
Kindergarten and 1st grade students are invited to sit and ride on the float. All other students are parents are expected to walk behind the ADV banner or float. 
 
K-5 Parents must accompany and supervise their children in the parade and can choose to walk/dance behind the float. For children in grades 6-8, it is at the parent’s discretion whether or not they accompany them on the parade route. 
 
Keep moving! Do not stop performing or mingle. Each entry MUST keep pace with the unit that precedes it, and not allow gaps between units.  
Once the parade is moving, we must maintain ten (10) feet behind the unit immediately ahead of us, unless otherwise instructed by a Parade Official. 
Parade Officials will be wearing orange vests. 
 
  • Please bring candy to hand out. 
  • No throwing of ANY candy, items, or promotional materials. All items and candy must be given out by hand to parade attendees/spectators.  
  • No lollipops or candy with sticks allowed. 
  • A video of the choreography will be released soon so all ADV students and parents can practice together! We love it when the parents dance, too!  
  • Please use the bathroom before you arrive to line up. There are NOT bathrooms close to the parade line-up. 
  • Parents – we suggest that you carry water bottles for your dancer, as they will be thirsty at the end of the parade route. 
  • All children must be collected by a parent or guardian immediately at the end of the route. Please plan to meet your child behind Café Racer, by SR 580 and the Pinellas Trail.

December 13th-CHARITY DAY-

Bring in a toy to share with those who may not have many or any of their own this holiday season. Toys should be able to fit in a grocery bag and cost less than $10. Gift cards will be accepted for the middle school children.

**The monthly dress up days and activities are designed to promote Academie DaVinci’s and Pinellas County Schools Commitment to Character. Each character trait will be discussed and promoted throughout the month, so our students and staff know at ADV Character Counts!!! However, students are not required to participate in the dress out days. If they choose not to participate, the regular school uniform should be worn.


DRESS UP & ACTIVITY DAYS AT ADV

Semester 2

JANUARY- Cooperation Day- Friday, January 20th- It’s Cool to Cooperate!- Dress for cool weather in your favorite winter clothes to show that COOPERATION is COOL!!

FEBRUARY- Kindness and Caring- Friday, February 17- Today is National Random Acts of Kindness Day. Make a list of at least three things you WILL DO today as “random acts of kindness” and wear a shirt to school promoting kindness, love or positivity!

MARCH- Responsibility Day- March 24th. “You can’t escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today”- Abraham Lincoln. Write a paragraph (k-4) or essay (5-8) discussing this quote by Abraham Lincoln concerning responsibility. You may also find quotes of your own to include. Your paragraph or essay is due to you teacher by Friday, March 24th.

APRIL- Honesty Day- Friday, April 21st -Blue symbolizes trust, loyalty, and truth. Wear as much blue to school as you can today to show you are an honest and truthful ADV student.

MAY- Respect Day- Friday, May 19th- “Dress For Respect”- Dressing well is a sign of respect for yourself and for others. So today dress in your dressiest attire for school to show just how much we respect ourselves and each other at ADV!
